Northeast Sardinia by Boat
Sardinia's northeast coast is one of the Mediterranean's last unspoiled stretches. Granite islands, pink-sand beaches, marine reserves, and water so clear you can see the seabed at ten metres. The best way to experience it is by boat — no traffic, no crowds, and access to coves that roads simply cannot reach. Golfo Aranci is the ideal starting point, with La Maddalena, Tavolara, and Costa Smeralda all within a day's cruising distance.
When to Visit
The charter season runs May through October. June and September offer warm water (22–25°C), calm seas, and fewer visitors — the sweet spot for most travellers. July and August are peak season: hottest weather, liveliest atmosphere, but busiest anchorages. May and October are cooler but beautifully quiet, with excellent visibility for snorkelling.
Top Destinations from Golfo Aranci
La Maddalena Archipelago: seven islands of pink granite and turquoise water, including the famous Spiaggia Rosa. Tavolara: a 560-metre limestone monolith rising from the sea, surrounded by a marine reserve. Molara: natural rock pools perfect for families. Costa Smeralda: Porto Cervo, Poltu Quatu, and a string of exclusive coves. Bonifacio (Corsica): a dramatic clifftop citadel, reachable as a day trip on faster boats.
